The Guardians of Fallcrest
The Guardians of Fallcrest is an epic fantasy story and tale created by Greg Martin and Recounted by Logan Smith. It takes place in the Campaign setting Points of Light and is based loosely on the “Forgotten King” trilogy. It follows the Adventures of the Guardians of Fallcrest, a group of individuals who are trying to stop a Demon from fulfilling his plans.
The story begins when church Acolytes; Fergus Smit and Scar Smithia, along with their friend, Fluffy Bunny-Tail, start on a mission to stop a bunch of thieves. Along the way, they save a little girl and walk her home, but go back into the caverns to find that some of the thieves were actually trying to revive an ancient Demon-God, Sertrous, and bring him back using the bones of a Forgotten King named Theron’s bones. They travel through the caverns, taking down several undead and constructs along the way, they eventually meet a Half-Elven Druidess girl, named Leera, who tells them that a Evil Cleric of Tiamut (Xeron) has been looking for the king’s bones. We eventually make it to a waterfall, where we find a fey creature with an Axe, which they name “Santa Fey, Lumberjack Spirit of the Waterfall”. Leera escapes with Santa, and they continue their quest, and eventually defeat the Cleric, Xeron, and kill him, but the other Yuan-Ti have apparently escape with the body. They are visited by a ghost of the King, Theron, who gives Fergus his magic Longsword, Merthuvial.
The Four continue their quest to an underground city, where they meet an information broker Es Sarch, who gives them information to go to a Spike, which they manage to get in with the help of a magic spell. They get in and attack an evil Medusa, Fadheela, whom which Falin gets a magic staff, Naniethral.
They find a portal that takes them to a Yuan-Ti base, where they meet a small Dragon, Snapwing, and they save his life. They continue to fight their way through Yuan-Ti, only to find a Mind Flayer, who tells them that they are too late. Percival slits the Illithid’s thorat and they kill a bunch of Yuan-Ti priests, but are quickly creamed by Sertrous, but Falin uses a risky teleportation Spell to send them away.
the Hammerfast Fiasco
The gang get away, but Fluffy had died (but Fergus revived him). The gang returns to Fallcrest, were they meet Nimozarn, Falin’s mentor. and meet up with Grundelmar, the head of Fergus and Scar’s church. They then tell Grundelmar their narrative of their adventure and Grundelmar, surprised, arranges a meeting with Lord Markelhay, and they also learn of of a strange effect on the Baron of the Barony of Therund. They then travel to Hammerfast, where a Druid, Edara, supposedly has a Circlet that can break whatever spell the Baron is under.
They travel, taking down a gang of thieves along the way, and they were thieving a car filled with Magical supplies. When they get to the town, Fergus negotiates with Edara, who promises to give him the Circlet by the end of the week, and Fergus precedes to have lunch with her. Fluffy is constantly bullied by a Dragonborn named Thar, who they later learn is the Exarch of the evil god, Gruumsh. They then realize he is trying to revive the ancient dragon, Calastrix, with the use of Hydra blood. They then travel to the mountains were Calastrixs’ dead body sleeps. They defeat Thar’s minions, and Fluffy brutally kills Thar. During the battle, Scar and Fergus hold Thar’s wizard captive, and the Wizard eventually escapes. Calastrix awakes and Fergus fails to negotiate with the dragon before Calastrix flees.
Fergus travels back to Hammerfast, where they learn that the town is quite content with fighting the dragon, but Fergus talks to Edara, who gives him the Circlet, and Fergus tells her to give them an Animal messenger if they are needed in the fight, and Edara agrees. They continue to travel to the Barony of Therund, but have a slight interception.
The gang travels to Fallcrest and they hear a report that Lord Markelhay is acting extremely strange. They come and visit him, but look in the church to find it empty. They visit Lord Markelhay, and Fergus uses his insight to see that the Lord anf Nimozarn are acting strange. Falin then uses a Dispel Magic power that unleases the Guard’s disguise as Yuan-Ti. The Gang fights back and after a tough battle kill the Yuan-Ti and their Ogre cohorts. Markelhay and Nimozarn are freed from a spell, and Nimozarn reveals that a Man named Theron came by (Sertrous in disguise) and he tried to detect any evil but he was quickly overcome by evil, as was Lord Markelhay. They then continue on to the Barony of Therund.
the Trollhaunt Adventures
On their way to the Barony of Therund, they see a horse being eviscerated by a group of Trolls. The gang wipes the floor with them and see a messenger hiding in the tree, apparently the owner of the Horse. The messenger is about to send a Message about how the Baron’s son died. Falin uses Phantom Steeds to get them both to the Barony of Therund, but the gang arrives in Moonstair in the Barony of Therund. They meet they mayor of the Town, Kelana, who is visibly exhausted. She tells them that the Trolls will be attacking very soon. The Gang learns that a part of adventurers (including the Baron’s son) died attacking the Troll King, and that the Troll King, Skalmad, has kept the son’s ancestral sword as a trophy. The gang visits the only survivor of the attack on the Troll King: Bax, who is suffering survivor’s guilt and is heavily drinking. Fergus convinces Bax to give them the location of the Trollhaunt Warrens, and Bax gives them a map, to which Fergus says he can revive the Baron’s son. They continue through the Trollhaunt Warrens, taking down several Trolls and Troglodytes. During a battle with the Troglodyte chieftain, Sark, to which Fluffy brings him down and Fergus uses Diplomacy to force a surrender, and the Troglodytes reveal that they were held captive by the Troll King. He then leads the to the Troll King’s lair, and after a huge battle, Scar stabs through Skalmads neck, but he disappears in a blinding light from his mysteious eye. The gang then rest and prepare for battle.
Battle of Moonstair
The gang travels to Moonstair and take an extended rest, and in the process save a young woman from a group of Trolls. They make it to Moonstair and defend the gate from a bunch of Trolls and Ogres. They meet an Eladrin Wizard named Rualiss and they continue to defend the town from Trolls. After defending the town, Falin and Fergus are invited into Rualiss’s library, where they learn the tale of Skalmad and Vard, how Skalmad stole the Moran’s eye from the original Troll King, Vard, and how Skalmad is now the ruler of the Trollhaunt Warrens. They also learn of the Stone Cauldron, a magical spring with stone built around it.
Back to the Warrens
They then travel to the Warrens to find Skalmad, and defeat several Briar Hags and Trolls as well as Skalmad himself accompanied by Drow. One Drow says he must warn Matron and Earlvane (names they have not heard), and they leave. Skalmad is defeated but then remerges and teleports to the Feywild through his Throne. They eventually find a Human named Denthos, who tells them about Theron (Sertrous in disguise) visiting Skalmad and promising power. They decide to go to a portal to the Feywild in Moonstair. They make it and decide to travel toward the Stone Cauldron, which has the power to resurrect armies.
Into the Feywild
